About the event
The Historical Society is pleased to host author, James Gindlesperger, as he discusses his book "Escape from Libby Prison." The book is a historical fiction account depicting the horrible conditions of the Confederate prison, the mental state of the prisoners, and the many unsuccessful attempts of escape. It ends by detailing how a group of 109 officers escaped from the prison on February 9, 1864, with only 48 reaching the Union lines.
This event is free to attend and RSVPs are required. Seating is limited. Refreshments will be served after the talk.
